Nameless Therein is well known for his music within the Order of Nine Angles, both in esoteric chant and on guitar. His chant works include new renditions of the original MMP Temple “Chant of the ONA” recordings, Gregorian chant arrangements for each of the Dark Gods, his “Dark Gate” and “Earth Gate” recordings, his arrangements for the chants listed in the ONA’s Black Book of Satan, the first public recordings of the chants for the Dark Angle (“Chant to Return Atazoth to Earth”) and the Star Gate (“Chant to Open a Star Gate”), the first public recording of the traditional “Eoan for Three Voices” chant, a musical rendition of David Myatt’s 1986 poem, “In the Night,” and a number of his own esoteric chant compositions. As a classically trained musician, he is also known for his guitar works, including the 2018 full-length, “Hex Haruspex,” the self-released “Eolian: Singles,” and various classical guitar compositions. Many of these releases can be found on his youtube channel:
In addition to his background as a musician, Nameless Therein is a professional academic with a specialization in Continental philosophy. His research interests include phenomenology, ontology, alterity, post-modern thought, post-secular theology, and hermeneutics. He also has an interest in ancient Greek philosophy. As remarked elsewhere, though this description may invoke an image of a “studious, academic bookworm lost in a world of theoretical reflection and abstraction with no grounding in vital experience or action,” Nameless Therein’s background is steeped in real-world, sinister experience. Having practiced Satanism for over two decades and having been involved with the Order of Nine Angles for half that time, his lifelong pursuit of music and philosophy has been motivated by the need to examine transformative experience through the fundamental questions of existence, being, our relation to the Other, and our relation to the world. In a response made elsewhere concerning his stance against violence, extremism, and harm towards others, he describes some his personal experiences and background in more detail:
[T]hose who know me personally – including some of the most powerful Nexions in this tradition – know that my background is steeped in a solemn history of profound sinister/Satanic activity. What I write is not meant to be theoretical. And it is from my history of violent and transformative action that I can even approach the contemplative. My journey along the Seven-Fold Way was prefaced by extreme experiences: I know what it’s like to fight for my life, to be beaten and broken, to approach physical death on more than one occasion; [to lose] everyone and everything and … rebuild from a bottom that no longer exists…. to find myself in the emergency room on multiple occasions, to know and love a woman and then to see her die …
The best among us know what it’s like to be wounded. One cannot approach the ONA or the Seven-Fold Way, let alone expect to succeed, without having had such experiences break down the resistance structures that prevent us from maintaining composure in the face of great adversity. It is precisely from this wounding, from having been the recipient of its necessary violence, that I object to propagating it, whether in language or in deed.
Nameless Therein is also the editor and head of Fenrir, the Order of Nine Angles’ long-standing “Journal of Satanism and the Sinister.” Now revived after a period of inactivity, he aims to promote a return to scholarship, esotericism, sinister magick, and art, all with an emphasis on the radical movement away from politics and extremism.
Aside from music, philosophy, and his role as editor of Fenrir, Nameless Therein has a special interest in art, cinema, and literature. He is also a chess enthusiast, having played and studied the game most of his life, now a firm advocate of its importance in relation to the Star Game.
