I present here a preview of some my Sinister Tarot artwork for the upcoming edition of Fenrir. These are meant to offer my unique take on the energy and spirit of the originals. As a bonus, I’ve included an extra drawing at the bottom – one that’s not part of the Sinister Tarot but in keeping with that energy.
The Old Sinister Pathways
A collage of my Sinister Tarot deck, “The Old Sinister Pathways,” published and distributed privately among friends. This deck includes the 21 Major Arcana and closely follows the O9A’s symbolism and specifications for the creation of a Sinister Tarot deck. My new work is an effort to impart my own vision and energy using symbolism unique to my experiences of these entities and energies.
Davcina – Mistress of Earth
Tarot number III and path number 19 on the Tree of Wyrd, leading from Mars to Jupiter. Davcina is associated with the mercury/ego level of the sphere of Jupiter and the color crimson, which is emphasized here. Jupiter is associated with the alchemical process of fermentation.
Kthunae – Lord of Earth
Tarot number IV and path number 16 on the Tree of Wyrd, leading from the Sun to Mars. Kthunae is associated with the mercury/ego level of the sphere of Mars. Mars is associated with the alchemical process of sublimation.
Vindex – Opfer
Tarot number XII and path number 18 on the Tree of Wyrd, leading from the Sun to Saturn. Vindex is associated with the mercury/ego level of the sphere of the Sun. The Sun is associated with the alchemical process of putrefaction.
Velpecula – The Sun
Tarot number XIX and path number 15 on the Tree of Wyrd, leading from Venus to Saturn. Velpecula is associated with the mercury/ego level of the sphere of Saturn. Saturn is associated with the alchemical process of exaltation. This image is my interpretation of that energy.
